JoAnn Petrizzo has been involved in redevelopment for more than a decade and is considered an expert in the field. A frequent organizer and participant in seminars across the country, she has extensive experience in educating the public regarding brownfields and a unique expertise in redevelopment financing. Formerly brownfields program director at New Jersey’s Office of State Planning, Ms. Petrizzo was responsible for coordinating the various funding and incentive programs available for redevelopment. She was named secretary to the Governors Brownfields Redevelopment Task Force and chaired the Brownfields Redevelopment Interagency Team. In the private sector, Ms. Petrizzo was director of brownfields and business development at The Whitman Companies, Inc., an environmental engineering firm headquartered in East Brunswick, NJ. She also served as executive vice president, brownfields division, for Piazza Development Corporation, Moonachie, NJ. A past vice chairman of the USGBC-NJ and member of the National Brownfields Association NJ chapter. Ms. Petrizzo currently serves as vice chairman of the Community Outreach Committee and member of the Grievance Committee for the Ocean County Board of Realtors. A former municipal official, Ms. Petrizzo is owner and broker of record for ADK Realty and Consulting Services, LLC, a full service real estate and consulting firm that offers residential and commercial sales, land development, State funding consultation, project facilitation and community outreach services. DEFINITIONS:


 Brownfields- Any former or current commercial or industrial site, currently vacant or underutilized and on which there has been or there is suspected to have been, a discharge of a contaminant. New Jersey has various financing programs to assist in clean up and redevelopment of these sites.
